The Beautiful People

The single "The Beautiful People" peaked at #29 on the U.S. Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks and remains known as one of Marilyn Manson's most famous and most successful original songs.

When I first heard this song I thought that it was totally cool sounding with a twist of ghoulish backward sounds at the beginning and end of this song.

In 1989 Marilyn Manson started his band in South Florida which he named Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids. In 1992 he decided to call the band Marilyn Manson.

Here is the video for you to view, which may appear freaky to those of you who aren't into the Marilyn Manson version of what a song should sound and look like.

Crossroads

The song 'Crossroads' was a touching tribute written for deceased Eazy-E, who had died much to early. The lyrics also touch upon the afterlife judgement process, which may or may not be true, but in my mind I believe that it is better to not doubt what may end up being true.

Bone Thugs n Harmony is a harmonious sounding group of singers who seem to want to get the right message out to people who listen to their music.

More Human Than Human

White Zombie was a popular heavy metal band that was formed back in 1985.

The song More Human Than Human made it to #7 on the U.S. Modern Rock Tracks in 1995 and it also made it to #10 on the U.S. Mainstream Rock Tracks.

The music style of this band was a mix of driving guitar riffs and heavy metal music to achieve its unique sound with strong lyrics to round it off.

Semi-Charmed Life

This song was very popular even though it was censored for a drug related verse.

I didn't see any harm in leaving the verse in the song when it was played on the radio.

It's like the FCC thought that if it was left alone that people would go out and buy crystal meth.

This version is the FCC version.

This is the true version of the song being sang acoustically by two of the original band members.

Fly To The Angels

The song 'Fly To The Angels' is a cool sounding song from the rock band 'Slaughter'. When I first heard this song I was watching MTV, back when they still played music videos (LOL).

When you listen to Mark Slaughter's voice range during this song you begin to realize that not every known singing guy can achieve what Mark can with his voice, although I know that you can name some of them who can.

This song hit #1 on the U.S. rock charts in 1991.

These are the lyrics:

Pictures of you
Oh, they're still on my mind
You had the smile
That could light up the world
Now it rains
It seems the sun never shines
And I drive down
This lonely, lonely road
Ooh I got this feelin'
Now I gotta let you go

But now you've got to fly
(Fly high)
Fly to the angels
Heaven awaits your heart
And flowers bloom in your name
You've got to fly
(Fly high)
Fly to the angels
All the stars in the night
Shine in your name

Though it hurts me, way deep inside
When I took a look
And found that you're not there
I tried to convince myself
That the pain
The pain is still not gone
But still I drive down
This lonely lonely road

But I got this feeling
Girl I gotta let you go

You've got to fly
(Fly high)
Fly to the angels
Heaven awaits your heart
And flowers bloom in your name
You've got to fly
(Fly high)
Fly to the angels
All the stars in the night
Shine in your name

Ooh yeah
And still I drive down
This lonely lonely road
Oh I got this feelin'
Oh, I can't let you go
But I know that you've got to fly
(Fly high)
Fly to the angels
Heaven awaits your heart
And flowers bloom in your name

Ohh you've gotta fly
(Fly high)
Fly to the angels
All the stars in the sky
Shine in your name oh yeah
Ooh, ooh
Ooh yeah

I'm gonna miss you
I'm gonna miss you so

Thunderstruck

This is one of my favorite songs from AC/DC, which made it to #5 on the U.S. billboard chart.

Thunderstruck is on the album 'The Razors Edge', which came out in 1990.

The lyrics:

I was Caught
In the middle of a railroad track (Thunder)

I looked round

And I knew there was no turning back (Thunder)

My mind raced

And I thought what could I do (Thunder)

And I knew

There was no help, no help from you (Thunder)

Sound of the guns

Beatin' in my heart
The thunder of guns (it)
Tore me apart
You've been - thunderstruck

[Rode | Went] down the highway

Broke the limit, we hit the town

Went through to Texas, yeah Texas

And we had some fun

We met some girls

Some dancers who gave a good time

Broke all the rules, played all the fools

Yeah, yeah, they, they, they blew our minds

I was shakin' at the knees

Could I come again please?
Yeah the ladies were too kind

You've been - thunderstruck, thunderstruck

Yeah yeah yeah, thunderstruck
Yeah
Oh, thunderstruck, yeah

Now we're shaking at the knees

Could I come again please?

Thunderstruck, thunderstruck

Yeah yeah yeah, thunderstruck

Thunderstruck, yeah, yeah, yeah

Said yeah, it's alright

We're doing fine

Yeah, it's alright

We're doing fine

(So fine)

Thunderstruck, yeah, yeah, yeah,

Thunderstruck, thunderstruck, thunderstruck

Whoa baby, baby, thunderstruck

You've been thunderstruck, thunderstruck
Thunderstruck, thunderstruck

You've been thunderstruck

One Week

The song, 'One Week', is the first single from the Barenaked Ladies album, 'Stunt'.

This song hit #1 on the U.S. hot 100 chart in 1998. It stayed at #1 for one week, but it remained on the U.S. Modern Rock Tracks for 5 non-consecutive weeks.

These are the lyrics:

It's been one week since you looked at me
Cocked your head to the side and said "I'm angry"
Five days since you laughed at me saying
"Get that together come back and see me"
Three days since the living room
I realized it's all my fault, but couldn't tell you
Yesterday you'd forgiven me
but it'll still be two days till I say I'm sorry

Hold it now and watch the hoodwink
As I make you stop, think
You'll think you're looking at Aquaman
I summon fish to the dish, although I like the Chalet Swiss
I like the sushi
'cause it's never touched a frying pan
Hot like wasabe when I bust rhymes
Big like LeAnn Rimes
Because I'm all about value
Bert Kaempfert's got the mad hits
You try to match wits, you try to hold me but I bust through
Gonna make a break and take a fake
I'd like a stinkin achin shake
I like vanilla, it's the finest of the flavours
Gotta see the show, cause then you'll know
The vertigo is gonna grow
Cause it's so dangerous,
you'll have to sign a waiver

How can I help it if I think you're funny when you're mad
Trying hard not to smile though I feel bad
I'm the kind of guy who laughs at a funeral
Can't understand what I mean?
Well, you soon will
I have a tendency to wear my mind on my sleeve
I have a history of taking off my shirt

It's been one week since you looked at me
Threw your arms in the air
and said "You're crazy"
Five days since you tackled me
I've still got the rug burns on both my knees
It's been three days since the afternoon
You realized it's not my fault
not a moment too soon
Yesterday you'd forgiven me
And now I sit back and wait til you say you're sorry

Chickity China the Chinese chicken
You have a drumstick and your brain stops tickin'
Watchin' X-Files with no lights on
We're dans la maison
I hope the Smoking Man's in this one
Like Harrison Ford I'm getting frantic
Like Sting I'm tantric
Like Snickers, guaranteed to satisfy

Like Kurasawa I make mad films
Okay, I don't make films
But if I did they'd have a Samurai
Gonna get a set a' better clubs
Gonna find the kind with tiny nubs
Just so my irons aren't always flying off the back-swing
Gotta get in tune with Sailor Moon
'Cause the cartoon has got the boom anime babes
That make me think the wrong thing

How can I help it if I think you're funny when you're mad
Tryin' hard not to smile though I feel bad
I'm the kind of guy who laughs at a funeral
Can't understand what I mean?
Well, you soon will
I have a tendency to wear my mind on my sleeve
I have a history of losing my shirt

It's been one week since you looked at me
Dropped your arms to your sides
and said "I'm sorry"
Five days since I laughed at you and said
"You just did just what I thought you were gonna do"
Three days since the living room
We realized we're both to blame,
but what could we do?
Yesterday you just smiled at me
Cause it'll still be two days till we say we're sorry

It'll still be two days till we say we're sorry
It'll still be two days till we say we're sorry

Smells Like Teen Spirit

When I first heard the song, 'Smells like teen spirit', I was an instant fan of the band 'Nirvana'.

What got me hooked was the way that Kurt Cobain put his lyrics, with the right kind of music, for the songs to come out sounding like they were meant to sound.

I was, however, saddened by the news, when Kurt committed suicide, by fire arm. What a tragic way to end your own life.

The one good thing that came out of Kurt ending his life was that the band 'Foo Fighters' was formed by former band members of Nirvana, which allowed Dave Grohl (the drummer), to become the lead vocals for 'Foo Fighters', and leave his drum set behind.

Question: Were you into the music style of Nirvana?
